Microsoft FastTrack
Microsoft FastTrack
FastTrack helps customers deploy Microsoft cloud solutions
Ongoing
Microsoft FastTrack helps thousands of organizations migrate data to the cloud with confidence. In addition, FastTrack’s change management resources help increase user adoption to achieve business goals.
FastTrack is the place where customers can work hand in hand with engineers to ensure the migration runs smoothly.
The problem
IT admins don’t know where to start the migration process for their company.
My role
Consulting and interaction design. I worked with a team of developers, business analysts, data scientists, engineers, project managers, and the client.
Overview
Request FastTrack Assistance (aka RFA)
Originally this feature was a giant form, it was confusing since the form was so field dense. Over 60% of the users for this form were IT Admins from the customer’s organization. IT Admins don’t interact with the FastTrack site the same frequency as a field seller or partner would. Since the primary user is a novice we built a guided wizard flow as shown in the video below.
Migrations
We wanted to add that ability for the customer to request their own migration and view the progress. The customer is able to work directly with an engineer with guidance on how they should set up their environment to ensure success. The flow allows the customer to set up a new project all the way to scheduling events as shown in the video below.
Impact
This program is a multimillion dollar investment into ensuring Microsoft stays competitive in their cloud offering. Theses features allowed:
Increased completion of the RFA form from 34% to 72%
More accurate information collected
Clear path of what engineers need to do first in their migration journey
Thousands of customers safely migrated to M365 Cloud
